I started practicing yoga at Hand to Heart at the beginning of the summer.  I was coming off a period of not being very active and feeling depressed.  I purchased a generous package pass and was able to get to the studio 3 to 4 times per week for a couple of months.  After a few weeks, I was feeling stronger both physically and mentally.  I really appreciate the non-competitive class structure at Hand to Heart.  That being said however, I love that Erin often introduces new poses which encourage me to challenge my physical body.  As a  graduate student trying to balance classes, an internship, a part time job, and  all of life's other obligations, I'm  most grateful for the sense of peace and stillness that I generate from practicing yoga at Hand to Heart and carry with me off the mat.

Erin has just the right balance between playfulness and passion for yoga that both welcomes and challenges students of all levels. I knew there was something warm and special about practicing with her when she remembered my name and greeted me with a big smile the second time I walked through the door of her studio. Her creativity is truly unique; she has sincerely captured and incorporated yoga into all elements of your inward and worldly lives. Whether you practice alone for her gentle class, with a friend in her hip hop yoga class, to deepen your connection with a significant other in her Date Night Yoga class, or any of her other inspiring combinations of yoga with art, wine, food or sport, there is something that will expand your concept of yoga practice. When I wanted to share my excitement for yoga with my friends and new neighbors as I celebrated purchasing my first home and milestone birthday, there was no question that she would be the perfect teacher for my yoga party. She warmed my new home with the energy of her class, and made for a very memorable start to another year of my life.

The last two months of vinyasa yoga has helped me cultivate a meditative approach to yoga that evolves with the mindful awareness of flow in breathing and body movement (transition between postures). Erin is gentle and patient and encourages the same in our practice. She encourages gradual growth in place of forcing fixed postures. Learning the techniques of letting go at an experiential level is rewarding because it taps into body stiffness and pain resulting from stress and anxiety: the benefits are both immediate and cumulative. I am delighted to continue working with Erin through the Fall.

Since I started practicing yoga at Hand to Heart, I consistently feel happier, healthier, and stronger each day.  I learn more about myself and my body each class through Erin's lead and guidance.  Erin has a true sense of what the body and her students need.

I’ve taken several of Erin’s classes, and felt wonderful afterwards!  The best thing about her classes is that you not only feel like your body got exercised, but I felt “de-stressed” and my mind felt calm and clear – almost felt like I had just taken a nap.  Erin is such a positive, energetic instructor and it’s evident that she believes in and loves what she does.  Her positive energy is contagious!

A recent inductee into the Yoga realm, I wanted to share my unique experience. I have a back injury that was treated by chiropractors, physical therapists and doctors (inc. surgery) since 06/2006. I also have Adult Attention Deficit. After the first class, I felt entirely like a different person. It was a physical workout like no other. Yet I felt stronger after, rather than fatigued-and hardly needed any recovery time. There was also a hint of a new found peace, and mental concentration.

Erin's delivery makes a huge difference. Her voice changes during class into a soothing semi hypnotic tones. She commands a good flow for atmosphere. If I struggle with a pose, or panic from getting into an angle I am not used to, I concentrate on her voice, and try to tune back into that flow.

I see the difference with everyday movement. I use more muscle groups than the ones I normally rely. I have a new sense of awareness trying to keep a better general form, which even translates into confidence. After having a great session, I leave that room with a certain high that I hope will never wear out.

I came to Hand to Heart having never set foot in a yoga studio. Even as a beginner, I felt at ease working with Erin. Having only ever practiced with a DVD, I benefited tremendously from the skilled instruction and gentle correction. Hand to Heart offers a small setting and personal attention so it's comfortable rather than intimidating to try new poses. I started at Hand to Heart three months ago thinking of yoga as just another workout, now I feel like the mental benefits are even better than the physical!

Every one of Erin's classes that I have been able to join at Hand to Heart Yoga has been such great experience. Erin is so approachable and welcoming and the studio space is bright and full of light all day long. I always look forward to yoga class with Erin.
